Star's eLearning helps Italy's engineers to become F-Gas qualified

Star Refrigeration's eLearning group prepares Italian engineers to gain the European F-Gas Certification, the refrigeration and heating industry's first eLearning platform launched by Star Refrigeration in 2005, and Italian training centre Centro Studi Galileo have partnered to offer refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump engineers in Italy the opportunity to prepare for the compulsory European F-Gas certification, at any time and from anywhere, with a highly interactive online course. The Italian centre will be using the same eLearning course that successfully prepared thousands of engineers in the UK and Sweden to achieve the F-Gas qualification.

The European F-Gas Certification is a legal requirement, without which RACHP engineers are unable to undertake works relating to installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of cooling and heating equipment. In many European countries, the certification of engineers has been successfully rolled out as soon as F-Gas certification became a legal requirement in July 2011. However, Italy, as well as a handful of other EU countries, is only just beginning the qualification process.

In an attempt to make the training and certification accessible to everyone, Italy's largest HVACR training provider, Centro Studi Galileo, has signed a licence agreement with to offer the theory element of the training online. The Italian centre has translated the content of the English language F-Gas course, and the content has been adapted to the country's specific requirements.

You choose where you learn

Technicians/engineers will now have a choice to either undertake the theory training in a traditional classroom environment at a specified location or to study online whenever and wherever is convenient for the candidate, or both. Technicians around the country will have the opportunity to study from their homes in a cost-effective manner without having to take time off work or incurring travel and accommodation expenses. Once they have studied the material, candidates will attend the Centro Studi Galileo assessment centre for a day to carry out the certification test and, if required, to undertake practical training prior to the assessment.

eLearning makes learning fun by using interactive animations, which helps to easily increase the understanding of components and their operation. It allows students to study at their own pace and in their own time and delivers a high level of knowledge standard to all students as a base line. eLearning students learn more at a quicker pace as each screen is loaded with relevant information only, handpicked by industry experts.

Extra support for students is also available in the form of a free Library packed full of health & safety bulletins, risk assessments, method statements, handbooks and papers, as well as an expert on hand through the forum to answer any questions students may have.
